Look beyond the label
A general marketing description is not a maintenance specification. Ask for the manufacturer’s instructions and a clear explanation of the treatment process, testing requirements and ongoing servicing. Do not assume a different system removes the need for water testing, treatment or regular pool care.
A claim about reduced chemical use should identify the equipment involved and the care that remains necessary. Ask for information specific to the proposed system rather than assuming that safety, maintenance or running costs will improve for every pool.
Water care and equipment work together
Routine pool maintenance considers water condition, cleaning and the operation of pumps and filtration. The appropriate tasks depend on the installation and agreed scope. Clear-looking water alone is not a substitute for appropriate testing and care.
Follow the guidance for your installed equipment and discuss concerns with a suitable specialist. Avoid making changes based on a general article or treating an unfamiliar system as interchangeable with the one already fitted. Commercial operators should also consider their facility’s operating requirements when discussing any proposed change.
Questions to ask before an upgrade
Start with the equipment make and model, the pool’s approximate size, how it is used and the maintenance currently carried out. Ask what testing, consumables and servicing will still be needed, and how any proposed equipment works with the existing installation.
Request an explanation of the proposed work and a quotation. Claims about savings, reduced maintenance or suitability should relate to the specific equipment and pool, rather than a promise that applies to every installation.
Discuss your existing pool with SPM
SPM provides practical pool maintenance, water testing and chemical balancing as part of an agreed service, alongside equipment checks and separately agreed repairs or upgrades. An enquiry is the starting point for discussing what your pool needs; it does not assume that a particular treatment system can be supplied or fitted.
Based in Crawley, SPM serves domestic and commercial swimming pools across Surrey, Sussex and Kent, with selected work in London. Tell us about the installation and the concerns or improvements you would like to discuss.
